FAQs

How do I choose the right class for my dancer?

We’re here to help! Do they have an interest in a particular style of music? Do they gravitate towards fairy tales or action shows? If they are active kids, they usually find great happiness in our lil’ hip hop classes. If they are more attracted to princesses, we find success in fairytale ballet. Not sure? Our tap/ballet combo classes are excellent places to start as they are our most popular starting point for our younger dancers. Still looking for more guidance? Try a class for free!

What age do classes start?

We start dancers as young as 2 years old in a teacher/student environment. Parent’s are not allowed to stay in the classroom, but for our dancers ages 6 and under, parents are welcome to stay in our lobby incase of any kind of separation anxiety, help with potty breaks, or potential emergency situations.

We DO have a sister company that holds parent/dancer classes in our space for ages 3 months - 4 years. Please check out InsideOut Creative Movement for more information on their parent/child classes!

Can I watch classes?

TCDC asks that parents drop kids off and pick them up at the end of class. We do not allow parents to stay in the classroom as we find that more of a challenge to build trust and create a focused environment between the dancer and teacher. For our dancers ages 6 and under, parents are welcome to stay in our lobby incase of any kind of separation anxiety, help with potty breaks, or potential emergency situations.

What should my dancer wear to class?

Please check out our Dress Code page for detailed information for dance attire for each style we offer at TCDC!

What is the commitment?

TCDC has a few different commitments depending on the classes your dancer is in, or the teams your dancer is on. Recreational classes require a seasonal commitment. Fall classes run from Labor Day to the 3rd week of December. Spring classes run from the beginning of January to the Spring Showcase the first weekend of June.

Our training classes encourage a school year long commitment from Labor Day to the end of May.

Our Flock teams are a year long commitment (it eases up over summer). Auditions take place in June, summer requirements differ for each team, and the actual season occurs between Labor Day and Spring Showcase in June. Cluck here for more info about our Flock!

Will my dancer get to perform?

If your dancer is in a Rec class, they have the opportunity to perform in our Holiday Showcase and/or our Spring Showcase! Attendance is required in either Fall or Spring sessions to participate in these recitals. Each Rec class performs one routine for each class they are in. The more classes your dancer takes, the more performance opportunity in our recitals they get!

We do have a few exceptions to this rule. Select Ballet classes only perform in our Spring Showcase, and none of our technique classes perform in either showcase as they are focused on training and not performance.

How does payment work?

Your credit card on file will be automatically charged the first Friday of the month. We require are credit card on file to participate in classes at TCDC.
