Special Needs Dance
At TCDC, our Special Needs community has been an important part of our family from Day One. Before TCDC was even a thought, Tara felt a strong pull towards creating a dance experience for this demographic in East Boulder County.
Tara’s mother was a special education teacher in the JeffCo School District for 30 years, and her sister has a passion for working with adults with developmental disabilities through her business The Roost, also located in Lafayette, CO.
With her family experience to drive it, Tara started her Special Needs Dance Class when the studio opened in 2013. This class meets one Saturday per month for 90 minutes, and they have the opportunity to perform in both our annual Holiday Showcase and Spring Showcase.
They bring the house down every. single. time.
Saturdays 1:00-2:30pm
Monthly dance parties for our Special Needs community! Join us one Saturday per month from 1:00-2:30pm for an intro circle, warm up, movement across the floor, and choreography. Our dancers will be invited to perform choreography taught in class in both our annual Holiday and Spring Showcases.

Holiday Showcase
Friday, December 13th, Macky Auditorium, CU Campus, Boulder
Call Time - 5:30pm
Please arrive at the WEST ADA entrance at the front of Macky Auditorium in full costume. TCDC staff members will be there to greet you and take you upstairs to your waiting room. Parents, please drop your dancers with us and enter through the main doors to take your seats in the auditorium! We will walk your dancers to the stage. From there, you can come pick them up outside of the auditorium and come back to watch the show, or feel free to leave!
Curtain Call
If your dancer stays to watch the show, they will then come up with the rest of the dancers to the stage at the end of the show to take their final bow. This happens after the Finale routine “Dig That Crazy Santa Claus”. Please have them come out of their seats when called and make their way to the stairs on the right OR left of the stage. Once we have completed their finals bows, we will bow for a big group picture, and they are dismissed after that.
Costumes
Please wear anything Holiday that lights up! Ugly sweaters, hats, sweatshirts, t-shirts, light up necklaces, light up sneakers, go crazy as long as you can move well in it! Please no boots, heels or crocs. Sneakers only!
